Janet Xanthopoulos, Director and Head of the Yacht and Aviation Department at Rosemont Yacht Services will be attending the forthcoming international event, "Understanding Superyacht & Business Jet Tax," scheduled to take place in Brussels, Belgium on October 17, 2023. This one-day conference aims to unravel the intricacies of complex regulations, ownership structures, VAT implications, and more, spanning various jurisdictions.
 
Esteemed tax and customs experts will shine a light on some of the most challenging tax issues that individuals involved in superyacht or business jet ownership, chartering, operation, or management must navigate. Key topics to be explored during the conference encompass:
1.            The EU Customs Code & VAT Directive: A comprehensive examination of how these regulations are integrated into national legislation.
2.            Brexit: An in-depth analysis of current UK customs and VAT regulations.
3.            Inward Processing Relief: A comparison of new opportunities in the EU and UK.
4.            Choosing the Optimal Structure: Deliberations on the most suitable structure for yachts and jets, whether they are intended for commercial, private, or corporate use.

Janet Xanthopoulos, who heads our Yacht and Jet Department, will be participating in two panel discussions:

"What is the best model for your yacht or jet?" (11:15)
This panel will delve into topics like VAT on business aircraft operations (corporate vs. commercial), VAT implications in commercial vs. private ownership structures, and the role of AOCs (Aircraft Operator Certificates).
The discussion will be moderated by Nic Arnold, UK Head of JTC Private Office, and the panelists will include experts such as Capt. Andrija Šimić, Alex Chumillas, Andrew Wilson, Stephan Piazza, Jennifer Timinis, and Janet Xanthopoulos herself.
 
"How does temporary admission work in yachting and aviation?" (14:00)
The second panel will focus on the challenges associated with temporary admission in yachting and aviation, including issues related to users, time limits, extensions, and formalities. Jean-Philippe MASLIN will serve as the moderator, and the panel will feature esteemed participants like Katrina Abela, Geraldine Veran, and once again, Janet Xanthopoulos.
